That's a wrap!
We have just wrapped up the last Council Meeting for 2024.
Now it is time for some reflection as we look forward to 2025.
This news is a nice way to end the year. The Town of Erin just ranked #19 in the Globe & Mail's "Canada's most liveable cities for 2024" out of 448 communities across Canada, up 98 spots from last year! https://www.theglobeandmail.com/investing/article-most-livable-cities-canada-complete-ranking-2024/
This bulletin marks the ½ way point of my first term of Council. It is a milestone that makes me proud of our accomplishments, reflective of this journey we are on, and motivated for what’s next.
I am often asked “What is it like to serve on Council?”
Here is a quick snapshot of my first 2 years as a first time Councillor.
44 Regular Council meetings
20+ Other Council Meetings - Special Meetings, Budget Meetings, Public Meetings, Emergency Management Training, Recruiting, Strategy Workshops, etc.
6500+ agenda pages & many hours of preparation for each meeting
1 Inauguration Ceremony & a series of Orientation Sessions
3 Budgets
3 Provincial Conferences
Countless - Waste Water Construction Updates & Information Open Houses
Monthly - Economic Development Committee Meetings
Fun - Community Events & Ribbon Cuttings
Rewarding - Correspondence, Calls and Coffee Chats with Residents
Thankful - Thankful for the dedicated staff at Town Office who keep this Town running and strive everyday to improve our quality of life
Learning - SO much learning! - reading, researching, online training, networking with Councillors from other municipalities, etc.
Informing - creating content and sharing information in a manner I hope you are finding valuable
Engaging - Stay engaged! We are starting to develop our first Transportation Master Plan. This is the plan on how we will travel around town by car, truck, foot and bike. We need your participation. More information here. Click the FOLLOW button to receive email updates. And complete the "Tell Us What You Think" box with your initial comments. Stay tuned for details on the first of a series of in-person Public Engagement Sessions starting in January.
The next regularly scheduled Council meeting will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2025.
