Hello,

I am wrapping up the month and the 1st quarter of 2025 with another "round-up" of local information.

Quarterly Report - Q1 - January to March 2025

Following is a summary of key events and developments from the first quarter of the year. This is my informal overview, not an official record.

  • Budget - started implementing the 2025 budget - 2.4% tax levy - $17M operating budget and $11M capital budget from taxes, development charges, reserves and grants

  • Wastewater - Provincial Grant $29,473,750 - started planning for the wastewater infrastructure for existing properties in Erin Village

  • Wastewater - quarterly Wastewater Project Update received as scheduled

  • Roads Crew and Fire & Emergency Team - kept us safe and moving through a very challenging winter season

  • Transportation Master Plan - Feb 26 Open House & ErinEngaged survey

  • Parks & Rec - ErinEngaged survey for Thompson Park (Erin Glen) and future planning

  • Parks & Rec - new programming - yoga classes, spring ice schedule and new summer camp programs

  • Parks & Rec - welcomed new team member - Jason Falk, Operations Supervisor, Facilities & Parks

  • Parks & Rec - amendment to Fees and Charges By-law as a result of community input

  • Economic Development - draft of Economic Development Plan complete

  • Economic Development - completed interviews with downtown business owners to identify challenges and opportunities

  • Economic Development - supported businesses with a 2 page spread in the Spring edition of In the Hills magazine

  • Community Grants - awarded $27,500 to 19 applicants

  • Crossing Guards - full complement of Crossing Guards with a plan to keep it filled

  • Planning - i-cloud permitting used since 2022 for building permits is now accepting planning applications

  • Water - municipal wells - contract awarded for well drilling and testing to establish future water supply sources

  • Heritage Designations - 3 properties

  • Information Technology Systems - extensive and ongoing improvements to ensure safe and efficient record management

  • Rob Adams, Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), celebrated 1 year anniversary with the Town on March 11


Council Meeting & Public Meeting - April 10, 2025


Official Plan

On Monday, March 24, the County's Planning team joined Council for a workshop on the Official Plan. This was for information purposes only. It was a good overview covering Planning Act changes.

These points stood out for me:

  • no urban expansions are needed to meet our residential growth forecasts to 2051

  • 38 ha of existing urban future development land can be re-designated

  • 23 ha of employment area needed to meet forecast


Growth

Below is the status of the housing developments. Registration refers to the process of officially recording a plan of subdivision.

Dundas East Construction

Now to Fall 2025 - multiple closures between Main Street to Tenth Line as work progresses for sanitary sewers, storm sewers, water and road reconstruction.
