Hello!
As I prepare for this week's Council meeting, following are some notes from the agenda.

Agenda includes:
1st Draft Budget 2025 - page 165 - 234
This draft is being presented for information only. No decision will be made on the budget at this meeting. This is just the first step - a first draft. This is Council's first look at the budget. There will be many discussions and more meetings on this budget.
Note - last year the 1st draft of the 2024 budget included a tax rate increase of 7.8% and it was finalized at a 3% tax rate increase.
Tax Rate Increase
2025 1st Draft Budget - 3.9% tax rate increase (was forecasted to be 4%)
2026 forecast - 2.53% tax rate increase
2027 forecast - 2.54% tax rate increase
2028 forecast - 2.51% tax rate increase
Survey Results

And here is the link to the results from the Community Budget Event held on October 9.
Taxes from New Homes
The forecasts incorporate taxes that will be collected from 2,191 new homes over the next 4 years.

2025 Capital Requests
The full list of capital requests for 2025 is found on pages 176 & 177 of the agenda. The full list shows how they are funded - from taxation, reserves or development charges. Here are some of them.

$80K - Website design
Fire
$2.5M - Aerial Ladder Truck (funded by Development Charges)
$135K - Fire equipment upgrades
Parks & Rec
$150K - Design for new Recreational Complex (funded by Development Charges)
$18K - Recreation Arena boards, theatre seating, cabinets
$22K - Parks and Recreation mower
$50K - Replacement of Ballinafad accessibility ramp
Roads
$650K - Roads Department grader
$70K - Roads Patrol truck
$100K - Roads workshop building renewal
$400K - Roads restoration program

17 cents - School Boards
27 cents - Town of Erin
Roads - 47%
Corporate Services, Planning, Economic Development - 28%

This is Council's commitment to our community. We are in a period of transition right now with this initiative and it is messy. I ask for your patience as we sort this out.
